The summer of 2023, I had the opportunity to intern at Agency Landscape and Planning where I helped develop a series of community workshops engaging a communities and stakeholders in the design process for the New Jersey Greenway. The Greenway is a 9 mile network of pedestrian paths and parks which will connect communities between Montclair and Jersey City and serve over 1.5 million surrounding residents. The goal of these summer workshops was to identify which segment along the Greenway the project would start.
For the first set of workshops, I collaborated with the Agency team to develop a series boards which informed community members about common landscape conditions one may experience while walking along the greenway. Participants could also leave flags on an interactive map (also below) marking favorite places along the Greenway in blue, concerns about the design in yellow, and the community they were coming from in green.
During the second set of workshops, I designed a series of interactive topographic models for each of the six typologies. These models were part of a greenway community design charrette game, which allowed community members to design their own space along the greenway through the placement of various game pieces on the models.
